Effective date: August 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how S.F. Baumgartner and F.B. Publishing (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collect, use, and share information when you visit sfbaumgartner.com (the “Site”), contact us, or sign up for reader news. This Site is an author website. It provides information about books and links to third-party retailers and reader services; it does not currently process book purchases directly.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Contact forms: When you use the contact form, we receive the information you enter, such as your name, email address, inquiry type, and message. Jetpack Forms may also record submission details such as the date, source page, device or browser information, and IP address. Akismet may analyze submissions to identify spam.
- Newsletter signup: When you subscribe, MailerLite receives the information requested on the signup form, generally your email address and, when requested, your name. MailerLite may also record signup, delivery, opening, clicking, and unsubscribe information so we can operate and understand the newsletter.
- Messages and other communications: If you email us or otherwise communicate with us, we receive the information contained in that communication.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Site, our hosting, security, consent, and analytics services may automatically collect limited technical information. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, dates and times, cookie identifiers, and information used to detect errors, abuse, or security threats.
How We Use Information
- To respond to reader, media, rights, website, and legitimate business inquiries.
- To send newsletters and reader updates you requested and manage subscriptions.
- To operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Site.
- To understand general Site traffic and how visitors use Site content.
- To prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights of others.
Cookies, Consent, and Analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functions, consent preferences, security, embedded content, and analytics. CookieYes provides the consent notice and preference controls. Depending on your choices and location, analytics may be provided through Jetpack Stats, Metricool, and tags managed through Google Tag Manager. These services may receive technical and usage information as described above.
You can use the Site’s cookie-preference control to review or change nonessential cookie choices. You can also restrict cookies through your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect Site features or embedded content.
Embedded Content and External Links
Some pages contain embedded video from YouTube or links to social platforms. An embedded provider may receive technical information when its content loads and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy.
The Site also links to third parties such as Amazon and other book retailers, BookFunnel, universal book-link services, review sites, and social platforms. If you follow an external link, the third party’s privacy practices apply. We do not control those services or the information they collect.
How We Share Information
We share information only as reasonably needed to operate the Site and communications, including with service providers that perform work for us. These providers include our WordPress hosting and security services, Automattic services such as Jetpack and Akismet, MailerLite, CookieYes, Metricool, Google Tag Manager, and embedded-content providers such as YouTube.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to investigate misuse or security concerns, or to protect rights, safety, and property. If the author business or Site is reorganized or transferred, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We do not sell mailing-list or contact-form information to data brokers.
Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate business records, to resolve disputes, and to meet legal or security needs. Newsletter information is generally retained until you unsubscribe or we remove it. Contact messages may be retained while an inquiry is active and afterward when reasonably useful for recordkeeping, rights, or security. Service providers may maintain information according to their own retention practices.
Your Choices and Privacy Requests
- Newsletter: Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.
- Cookies: Use the Site’s cookie-preference control or your browser settings.
- Access, correction, or deletion: You may contact us to ask about personal information we control and request access, correction, or deletion. We may need to verify your identity, and some information may be retained when permitted or required by law.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may provide additional rights. We will consider verifiable requests under the law that applies to the request. You may also contact your local privacy or data-protection authority.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us so we can review and, when appropriate, remove it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, however, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Site, our services, or applicable requirements change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
