Buried Secrets: Where the Mirror Estate Thriller Series Began
When I wrote Buried Secrets, I honestly believed it might be one story.
At the time, I already had an idea for a second book, which eventually became Living Secrets, but I never imagined the world of Mirror Estate would continue growing into a long-running mystery thriller series filled with hidden histories, conspiracies, dangerous secrets, and characters who began to feel incredibly real to me.
Yet here we are.
Now, as Stolen Secrets prepares to release on June 2, I find myself looking back at Book 1 and realizing just how much started there.
Buried Secrets was where readers first stepped onto the grounds of Mirror Estate. The old mansion. The strange atmosphere. The feeling that the walls themselves remembered things people wanted forgotten. Even then, the estate felt alive to me. Not haunted in a supernatural sense, but heavy with memory, family history, betrayal, and secrets buried beneath generations of silence.
What surprises me most is how the larger arc evolved naturally over time.
The Ghost storyline, which now sits at the center of the series, slowly grew into something much deeper and more emotional than I originally planned. The further I wrote, the more layers appeared. New connections surfaced. Characters revealed unexpected sides of themselves. Some of them still surprise me.
And honestly, I’m not ready to let them go.
That may sound strange to non-writers, but after spending years with these characters, they begin to feel like people you know. Their voices become familiar. Their choices matter to you.
I hope readers feel that connection too.
