When I wrote Living Secrets, I knew I wanted to take the Mirror Estate series in a bigger and more dangerous direction.
Buried Secrets introduced readers to the estate, the mystery, and the hidden history surrounding the family. But Living Secrets opened the door to something larger. International conspiracies. Government secrets. Biological threats. Powerful people working behind the scenes while ordinary lives hang in the balance.
At its core, though, Living Secrets is still a character-driven thriller.
One thing I’ve always tried to do with the Mirror Estate books is feature different characters and storylines while still maintaining the larger ongoing arc connecting the series together. Every novel reveals another piece of the puzzle. Some readers jump in with a later book because each story includes recaps, a character chart, and even a map of the estate to help new readers settle into the world.
Still, many readers tell me they enjoy starting from the beginning because they become emotionally invested in the characters and long-running mysteries.
That means a great deal to me.
I also write these books visually. When I’m drafting scenes, I often picture them unfolding like a television thriller series. Fast pacing. Layered investigations. Multiple storylines colliding under pressure. I can see the characters moving through the scenes in my mind almost like I’m watching an episode play out.
I hope readers experience that same cinematic feeling while reading.
Now the series is building toward its next major chapter with Stolen Secrets, Book 7 of the Mirror Estate thriller series, arriving June 2. The release will also include the companion novella Shadow Extraction, featuring Olivia in a dangerous mission tied to the larger conspiracy arc.
And like every secret in Mirror Estate, the deeper the truth goes, the more dangerous it becomes.
