That is one of my favorite things about an interconnected thriller world.
A name, event, or seemingly finished thread can have a life beyond the book in which it first appeared. The original story remains complete, but the world around it keeps moving.

A few Mirror Estate characters are mentioned in Lethal Design. Characters may also refer to things that happened in Stolen Secrets.
For Mirror Estate readers, those references create recognition. They already understand some of the relationships and history behind the names.
For readers entering through KC & Orlando Prime, the necessary context is provided inside Lethal Design. They don’t need to stop, consult another book, or wonder whether they missed the first half of the investigation.
Think of the crossover episodes among the One Chicago, NCIS, or FBI television franchises. Following every series gives viewers a broader perspective, but each show still has its own team, tone, and central story.
This minicrossover works the same way.
It adds another layer. It doesn’t remove one.
